Completed in 2022 by Southern Land Company, the 48-story glass tower at 1911 Walnut Street is the tallest residential building in Philadelphia and occupies the last undeveloped parcel directly on Rittenhouse Square. That combination — height, position, and finality — is what sets it apart.

Designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz, the building rises 599 feet with over 60 condominium residences beginning on the 26th floor. Below, more than 180 luxury rental apartments occupy floors three through twenty-five as 1909 Rittenhouse. Condominium owners live above the city, with floor-to-ceiling glass framing the Square, the Schuylkill, and an unobstructed skyline in every direction.

Residences range from approximately 1,700 square feet to nearly 9,000 square feet in the full-floor penthouses. Finishes include Hans Krug cabinetry, Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, and marble bathrooms with freestanding soaking tubs. The standard throughout is consistent with the building’s position in the market.

Amenities include valet parking, an indoor lap pool, a five-star fitness center with steam room and sauna, a Club Room and terrace overlooking the Square, and access to Philadelphia’s first Equinox. Prices range from approximately $2,675,000 to well beyond $25,000,000 for penthouse residences. In 2023, the building recorded more than $100 million in closed sales.

As of May 2026, The Laurel is approximately 82 percent sold. Contact me for an update on remaining inventory.
